183A Receives National Attention for
Going Cashless
On July 27th, 2008, 183A received national attention in a USA Today article about the shift towards cashless toll collection, also known as open-road tolling. Click here to access the full article.
183A is among the first toll roads in the United States to transition to an all-electronic toll collection system. By eliminating the need for drivers to slow down or stop to pay their tolls, the Mobility Authority is increasing mobility and safety as well as reducing fuel consumption and vehicle emissions. The transition is expected to save the Mobility Authority more than $1 million annually in operating costs.
Drivers who do not have a TxTag, Tolltag or EZ-Tag can pay their tolls by mail. Customers without a tag will have their license plate photographed, and they will be billed by mail. Click here for more information about Pay-By-Mail.
TxTag remains the easiest, most cost-effective way to pay tolls on 183A and other Texas toll roads. Sign up for TxTag and save 25% off the Pay-by-Mail toll rate. TxTag is available at toll plazas across Central Texas. For more information call 1-888-Go-TxTag or visit www.TxTag.org.
Cashless toll collection on 183A is expected to take place as early as December 1, 2008.
Citizens Learn About Plans for the
Manor Expressway
On August 6th, the Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority hosted an open house to provide the public with information about plans for the Manor Expressway. Attendees were able to review project design concepts, ask questions of Mobility Authority staff, project planners and engineers, as well as register for TxTag.
"Traffic in this corridor has increased more than 78% since 1990," says Mike Heiligenstein, Executive Director of the Mobility Authority. "Drivers who use US 290 East have been waiting for mobility solutions for a very long time, and we are extremely happy to report that the design plans for this project are moving forward."
In addition to the Manor Expressway Open House, TxDOT hosted a public hearing on August 12th where citizens had the opportunity to submit comments about the project. TxDOT also presented the results of the environmental studies conducted for the project.

Reminder |
TxTag Customers Reminded to Keep
Accounts Current
The Mobility Authority reminds TxTag customers to keep their account current. In order to properly charge your TxTag account, there must be money in the account, and your account information, including your license plate number, must be current. If we submit a toll transaction to TxTag and it is rejected, then you are issued a toll bill and are not eligible for the TxTag discount.
Improperly Installed or Unreadable Tags
If your TxTag isn’t mounted properly or if the equipment in the toll lanes does not properly read your tag, you may not be recognized as a TxTag customer. TxTag will try to post the transaction using the image of your license plate. For the process to work properly your license plate information must be up to date.
Lost, Stolen or Damaged Tags
If your TxTag is lost, stolen or damaged, call the TxTag Customer Service Center immediately. Until the TxTag Customer Service Center is notified, account holders are liable for any tolls, fees and charges to their accounts.
Sold Vehicles
If you sell your vehicle, be sure to remove your TxTag sticker or call the TxTag Customer Service Center to have it deactivated. Also, be sure to submit a motor vehicle transfer notification form to the TxDOT Vehicle Title and Registration officer. Even if your vehicle has been sold, you are liable for toll charges until the title is transferred to the new owner or until you submit a motor vehicle transfer notification.

Stolen Vehicles
If your vehicle is stolen, you should contact the TxTag Customer Service Center right away. Otherwise, you may be responsible for charges to your TxTag account. A copy of the police report will be requested in order to remove the stolen vehicle from your account.
Rental Cars
If you plan to use Central Texas toll roads in a rental vehicle, you may temporarily add the rental car to your TxTag account. Doing so will provide you with the ongoing 10% discount for TxTag customers and may keep you from accruing unnecessary administrative fees applied by rental car companies. Be sure to remove the vehicle from your TxTag account once the vehicle has been returned to the rental agency to avoid being charged for tolls accrued in that vehicle after you have returned it.
Updating Your Account
TxTag customers can update their address and phone numbers at www.TxTag.org or by calling the TxTag Customer Service Center at 1-888-468-9824.
License plates can be updated by calling 1-888-468-9824.
